Parks: Seneca Creek State Park is located in Gaithersburg and features hiking and biking trails, boat rentals, fishing, flat water canoeing and kayaking, historic interest, hunting, picnicking, playgrounds, riding trails, picnic pavilions, a restored 19th century cabin, cross-country skiing and vending refreshments. Black Hill Regional Park is located in Boyds, Maryland and also offers a plethora of outdoor activities like boating, fishing and picnicking. Another park to enjoy in the area is Baker Park, located in downtown Frederick.

Airports: Baltimore Washington International Airport is approximately one hour’s drive from the region and Dulles International Airport also services this area.

Elementary Schools: Lincoln Elementary School, located in South Frederick, is committed to ensuring all students equitable opportunities to grow academically, socially and emotionally. Germantown Elementary School is the original little red schoolhouse. Clopper Mill Elementary School and Waters Landing Elementary School, both in Germantown, are a few of our other favorite elementary schools in the area.
 

Middle Schools: Kingsview Middle School, located in Germantown, provides a quality educational experience that enables students to become lifelong learners, caring human beings, and responsible citizens. Other great schools in the region include: Roberto W. Clemente Middle School, in Germantown, Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, in Beltsville, and West Frederick Middle School, in Frederick.

High Schools: Frederick High School is a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and the oldest school in Frederick County. It is located in a beautiful setting adjacent to the City of Frederick’s Baker Park, and the school’s diverse population reflects its surrounding dynamic community. Gaithersburg High School is a “signature academy school” and Watkins Mill High School provides a wide range of academic, career and technical, extracurricular, counseling, and social opportunities to its diverse student population in a safe and nurturing environment. Quince Orchard High School, in Rockville, Seneca Valley High School, in Germantown, Northwest High School, also in Germantown, are other great options for your high school student’s education in the region.

Colleges/Universities: Montgomery College-Germantown Campus and Montgomery College-Gaithersburg Business Training Center serve nearly 60,000 students a year as they pursue a wide variety of educational goals. Frederick Community College is a two year college offering Associate degrees, certificate programs and continuing education. Hood College is a co-educational liberal arts college located in Frederick.

Restaurants: Volt is located in the heart of Frederick's nationally-renowned historic district - an architectural treasure trove of 18th and 19th Century buildings which house hundreds of specialty stores, antique shops, bed and breakfasts and restaurants. Brewer's Alley Restaurant was the first Brewpub in Frederick County. Other neighborhood favorites include: Outback Steakhouse, Panera Bread, Ruby Tuesday, Isabella's Taverna & Tapas Bar, Firestone's Restaurant, Acacia, The Tasting Room, and La Paz Mexican Restaurant.

Shopping: This region offers several shopping destinations for all your needs and wants. A few of our favorite spots include: Lakeforest Mall, Best Buy in Gaithersburg, Target, in both Germantown and Frederick, Kohl's also located in both Germantown and Frederick, Milestone Center Germantown, Germantown Commons, Walmart Supercenter located in Frederick, and the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick.

Museums: Barbara Fritchie House, located in Frederick, is the reconstructed house of Barbara Fritchie, heroine of John Greenleaf Whittier's poem from the Civil War. Monocacy National Battlefield has a rich history: in the summer of 1864, General Jubal Early led Confederate forces through the field towards Washington, D.C. and threatened to capture the capital city. On July 9, Union troops under General Lew Wallace met Early's forces on the banks of the Monocacy.
