Parks: Enjoy the freshwater fishing hot spot, Liberty Reservoir Park, where shoreline fishing is also permitted. Soldiers Delight Natural Environmental Area has seven miles of marked hiking trails, though equestrians and cyclists are not prohibited due to the sensitive nature of the area, which has over 39 rare, threatened, or endangered plant species as well as rare insects, rocks and minerals. Central Park offers tennis courts and pools, along with one of the two dog parks in the area. Other Central Park features include a community garden, a jogging trail around the open field, and community events.

Airports: You will enjoy living conveniently nearby several airports and train stations in the Owings Mills area; the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is located in Arlington, Virginia, just across the Potomac River from the Nation’s Capital. The Washington Dulles International Airport is conveniently located in Chantilly, Virginia, just 26 miles from downtown Washington, DC. Also nearby is the Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, an international airport serving the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. You will enjoy easy access to the Owings Mills Metro Station, which operates from the Owings Mills corporate and shopping complex in Baltimore County, through the heart of Downtown Baltimore’s business, shopping and sightseeing districts to world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital. The Old Court Metro Subway Station is also nearby and is one of 14 stops along the Baltimore Metro Subway line, located in Pikesville, Maryland. It is the second most northern and western station on the line.

Elementary Schools: Living in Owings Mills, you have your pick of several great schools in the area. The New Town Elementary School is located in Baltimore County and is a state-of-the-art school serving students in grades Pre-K through Grade 5.  New Town Elementary is also a professional development school with Goucher College. Woodholme Elementary serves families in the expanding communities of Pikesville, Randallstown, and Owings Mills. This state-of-the-art, comprehensive elementary school boasts a unique combination of instruction-based programs and community partnerships that greatly enhance learning. Deer Park Elementary School, located in Owings Mills, Maryland, serves grades PK-5 in the Baltimore County Public School District. It has received a GreatSchools Rating of 7 out of 10, based on its performance on state standardized tests.

Middle Schools: Pikesville Middle School is located in the middle class community of northwest Baltimore County, near Park Heights Avenue and Old Court Road. Deer Park Middle Magnet School, located in the northwest area of Baltimore County, is a school committed to excellence. High Schools: Pikesville High School was recognized as one of 13 Baltimore County schools by the Washington Post for its rigorous academic program and was placed in the top 7% of American high schools based on the number of students taking and passing advanced placement courses. New Town High School refers to themselves as "a global community of life-long learners" based on their academic rigor, real world relevance, and respectful relationships, which provide their students with the opportunity to be both critical and creative thinkers. New Town High School is a place that honors and celebrates diversity and teaches their students problem solving, adaptability, and responsibility to be leaders in a technology-advanced society.
 
Private Schools:  McDonogh School builds upon its founder's original mission to provide a life-altering opportunity to develop in its students the will "to do the greatest possible amount of good. It is a private, coeducational, K-12, college-preparatory school founded in Owings Mills, Maryland, in 1873.

Colleges/Universities: There are a plethora of colleges, community colleges and universities in the Owings Mills area. No matter your background or field of interest, you are bound to find the right one for you. Stevenson University is a private, independent, coeducational, liberal arts college that is located in the Greenspring Valley area of Baltimore County, Maryland. The University has two campuses, one in Stevenson and one in Owings Mills, with approximately 3,400 undergraduate and graduate students between the two campuses. Goucher College is a private, co-educational, liberal arts college located in the northern Baltimore suburb of Towson in unincorporated Baltimore County.  Loyola University Maryland is a Roman Catholic, Jesuit private university in Baltimore and was established in 1852. It is one of 28 member institutions of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, the ninth-oldest Jesuit college in the United States, and the first college in the United States to bear the name of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. The College of Notre Dame of Maryland is an independent, Catholic-affiliated, liberal arts college located in Baltimore, that primarily serves female students. The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is an American honors public research university, located in Baltimore County, mostly in the community of Catonsville, Maryland. Established as a part of the University System of Maryland in 1966, the university specializes in the natural sciences and engineering, while also offering programs in the liberal arts. Morgan State, located in residential Baltimore, is a historically black college and Maryland's designated public urban university. It is the largest HBCU in the state of Maryland. Though it is a public institution, Morgan is not a part of the University System of Maryland. The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is an accredited community college located in Baltimore County, with three main campuses and two extension centers. ITT Technical Institute is a leading private college system offering technology-oriented programs and career-focused degree programs at this Baltimore area college. Sojourner-Douglass College is a private institution of higher learning with an Afrocentric focus headquartered Baltimore.

The Baltimore Museum of Art exhibits American and international art, including the Cone Collection of over 40 paintings by Matisse, Gauguin, Picasso, Van Gogh and other European artists. Walters Art Museum has more than 30,000 objects including paintings, sculptures, art objects and artifacts from around the world and throughout the ages. The Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum, located in Baltimore, is the former home of American writer Edgar Allan Poe in the 1830s. Now open as a museum, the small house is a typical row home, and also houses the Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1972.

Entertainment: Catch a flick at the AMC Owings Mills 17, Regal Cinemas Hunt Valley Stadium 12, or The Senator Theatre, which is a historic single-screen Art Deco movie theater located in Baltimore that shows first run movies as well as classics.
